I am a scientist / teacher / writer with 10 years’ experience in 1:1 small group private tuition. I hold a BSc (hons) in biochemistry from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and a multidisciplinary PhD (biochemistry with physical chemistry) from the University of Kent. I have since enjoyed a research and teaching career that has taken me all around the world. I pride myself on being able to explain difficult concepts clearly and concisely (the nitty-gritty). I base my teaching upon a set of PowerPoint presentations which I have written and continually update to meet the needs of changing syllabuses, and which are available to students off-line for further study. Passing exams is the priority and so each session comes with practice questions carefully chosen at the appropriate standard, taken from my extensive collection. I also provide worked examples, and hints and tips aimed at getting maximum marks. Subjects offered. At A-level: biology, chemistry, physics. At university entrance level: medicine, nursing, science. At university (undergraduate) level: all subjects with a biology and / or chemistry component, including biochemistry, chemistry, microbiology (inc. bacteriology, virology), forensic science, paleobiology / archaeology.
