With eighteen years of teaching experience, including time leading vibrant and successful History Departments, I have the skills and enthusiasm to tutor students to success. My teaching ethos places establishing a strong conceptual understanding of the past as the foundation for success. Once that conceptual understanding has been established students have the confidence to undertake rigorous knowledge building, engendering a real curiosity about the past and an enthusiasm to succeed.
I pay particular attention to encouraging greater depth of reading, research and curiosity in my students. I ensure every session contains a significant amount of stretch and challenge; as well as the opportunity to read, listen or watch carefully selected resources after the session.
I am happy to support students in any area of History. My particular areas of Examination expertise at GCSE are: Modern World History, 20th Century British History, Early Modern Britain and the USA in the 20th Century. At A Level I have particular expertise in the NEA and Early Modern Britain 1450 – 1600. I support young people to achieve their best, whatever that best may be.

Preferred tutoring venue:
The tutor will teach at the student's home or a public venue (e.g. a library). Happy to tutor students at live in the Norwich area. I travel by bike. About 20 minutes each way is the maximum of what I would be able to offer (about 3 miles around the city).
