I taught for 35 years at Mainstream Highschools, the last 17 in the same school, with the final 7 being their SENDCO. We developed a small group to assist students who were struggling to access the KS3 curriculum because of problems with their literacy or perception of what was required of them. Since retiring I have assisted a girl on the Autistic Spectrum at a fee-paying Grammar School until her full-time education was completed. I am currently tutoring a child with a learning disability and help out with Maths and English at a private tuition centre one day a week. I work differently with all of my students dependant upon their individual needs or the support they require. I treat all my students with respect and expect the same courtesy in return.
